At UrbanSim, our Mission is to enable everyone to shape the future of their communities by using state-of-the-art simulation, visualization, and shared open data.
We aim to create a completely new way to engage people, businesses, and governments in decisions that will shape the future of their communities. To accomplish this, we have developed an integrated platform to share data, design alternative plans as scenarios, simulate the impacts of those plans over time, and visualize outcomes in 3D. Our platform rests on three pillars: UrbanSim for analyzing the impacts of alternative scenarios, UrbanCanvas for interactive design and visualization, and UrbanSim Commons for an open, shared data foundation on the cloud.
We began from a long line of research coordinated by Paul Waddell at the University of Washington and later at the University of California, Berkeley. Then we started Synthicity in 2012, and were acquired by Autodesk, Inc. in January 2015. In March 2016 we launched UrbanSim Inc., a new, nimble startup with a big view of the future.
Explore ways to transform your vision into reality by deploying the most advanced urban simulation available today to assess the impacts of alternative land use and transportation plans and policies on outcomes you value, such as housing affordability, vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions. Assess the impact of plans on equity, economy and environmental outcomes.
Explore local context in 3D. Generate new insights about your community using our advanced analytics. Collaboratively envision the future of your community and create alternative scenarios with combinations of land use and transportation plans and policies.
Commons
Share open data for the built environment, including parcels, buildings, zoning and development projects. Leverage a shared foundation for understanding and shaping your community.
